Regulations on the Open Research Project of the
State Key Laboratory of Industrial Control Technology

  1. The open research project will support visiting scholars to conduct research in the State Key Laboratory of Industrial Control Technology (SKLICT). The project is open for both domestic and overseas researchers.
  2. The project supports leading research that will be conducted in the SKLICT by the visiting scholars. The research topics need to be closely related to the priority research areas of the SKLICT.
  3. Every December, scholars will be invited by researchers in the SKLICT to submit applications for the Open Research Project in the State Key Laboratory of Industrial Control Technology. The duration of each project is normally one year. Upon approval by the director of the SKLICT, successful candidates are required to work in the SKLICT no less than two weeks in a year for senior researchers (i.e. professors), and no less than one month in a year for other researchers.
  4. The successful applicants must conduct their research proposed in their applications within the timeline, and will be supported by researchers in the SKLICT.
  5. Each visiting scholar is required to give a presentation on his/her proposed research topic to researchers and students in the SKLICT. Young scholars and early career researchers are also required to present the research outcomes achieved through the collaboration by the end of their visits.
  6. Visiting scholars are encouraged to give lectures, seminars or academic presentations to research staff and students of SKLICT.
  7. Visiting scholars are encouraged to collaborate with research staff of the SKLICT. Each young scholar or early career researcher is required to write at least one research paper or apply for one patent through the collaboration during his/her visit. The IP of these achievements belongs to both the SKLICT and the visiting scholar. Publications should acknowledge support of the SKLICT. The acknowledgement should be in the form: “This work is supported in part by the Open Research Project of the State Key Laboratory of Industrial Control Technology, Zhejiang University, China (No. ICTxxxx).”.
  8. When the project is finished, each visiting scholar is required to submit a final report to the State Key Laboratory of Industrial Control Technology. In the report, the visiting scholar should summarize the collaborative work, state and list the achievements including teaching activities, published/accepted papers, approved or submitted patents /copyrights of software, awards and prizes. Photocopies of certificates of these achievements and research papers should be submitted with the report.
  9. The research fund covers the costs related to the visit and the collaborative work in the SKLICT, including local living expense, travel expenses (return tickets), and stipend for teaching related activities if applicable. The fees for publications and patent applications can be supported upon approval of the SKLICT. Support documents need to be submitted, including the invoice of the publication payment, acceptance letter/email and the first page of the published paper with marked fund’s title, acceptance notification of patent application and the first page of the patent document, if applicable.
  10. Instruments and devices needed by visiting scholars will be provided by the collaborative researchers in SKLICT. The equipment should be returned to the collaborative researchers when the project is finished.
  11. If the research work of a visiting scholar does not meet the promise of the application and the requirements above, the SKLICT director may reject his/her application qualification for the next year.
